Your Responsibilities

Some repairs are the responsibility of the Association, and some are tenants responsibility.

You are responsible for:

  • Repairs that arise from neglect, carelessness or misuse by you or your family or guests.   Repairs may be carried out by the Association but you will be required to pay for the cost of the work. 
  • Replacing locks if you have lost your keys. The Association does not keep spare keys to your property once your tenancy has started.
  • Maintaining and replacing everyday items such as light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and fuses.
  • Keeping the property clean and in good decorative order.
  • Repairing anything that belongs to you. 

HPCHA are responsible for:

  • The general maintenance and repair of your home and the exterior of the building.
  • External decoration of the building and internal decoration to communal hallways and staircases.
  • Servicing of gas appliances owned by the Association, such as boilers.
