Improvements & alterations

There may be occasions when you wish to carry out improvements to your home, by providing extra facilities or making alterations such as:

• Installing showers
• Putting up fencing
• Replacing kitchen units and / or worktops
• Replacing bathroom suites
• Laying patios

It is essential that you obtain written permission from Hightown before starting any work. You should write to the Maintenance department giving details of the improvements you would like to make and enclose drawings and specification details where appropriate.

We will try to be reasonable when considering your request for improvements. However we may apply certain conditions before approving the request. These might include:

• Asking you to return the property to its original condition when you leave
• Asking you to provide appropriate safety certificates from installers / contractors as appropriate
• Asking you to remove the improvement if it is unsafe or breaks other regulations, or asking you to pay for any work we have to carry out as a result of the improvement being completed unsatisfactorily.

We may also ask you to provide access for our Estate Quality Inspector to inspect the work once it has been completed.
