Mayor opens new affordable homes in Bushey

A Superb development comprising of 14 new affordable homes was officially opened in Bushey on Monday March 17th by the Mayor of Hertsmere Councillor Martin Saunders.

The new affordable homes, known as Mayfield Court, are managed by Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association (HPCHA). The development consists of 49 apartments with 14 apartments allocated as affordable homes.

The site is located in London Road, Bushey on the former timber merchants yard – Brent Timber.

Four of the apartments are available for rent, six of the apartments are for sale under the Shared Ownership scheme and adults with learning disabilities occupy the remaining four apartments.

Councillor Martin Saunders, Mayor of Stevenage, said: “I would like to congratulate Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association on this fantastic development. This is a great example of partnership working which has delivered affordable homes for Hertsmere people.”

The new apartments benefit from two good-sized bedrooms, fitted kitchen and bathroom, double-glazing and secure parking.

Development at the new site started in June 2006 and was completed in March 2008. Thje site was developed by Belstone Homes.

HPCHA Chief Executive David Bogle added: “I would like to thank everyone who has worked with us in delivering this development of affordable homes.

“Within the site we have a mix of tenure types with homes for rent and homes for sale under the shared ownership scheme. We have also got four homes for people with learning disabilities allowing the tenants to live independently with floating support from Hightown.

“The demand for these homes has been huge and we hope to continue to work with Hertsmere Borough Council to deliver more affordable homes in the future.”
