FIRST time buyers looking to get onto the property ladder have received a boost thanks to a superb new development of affordable homes in Hemel Hempstead.
Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association (HPCHA) have released 24 homes in Wood Lane End for sale under the Shared Ownership scheme. The development comprises of 12 two-bedroom apartments, 2 two-bedroom houses, eight 3-bedroom houses and two 4-bedroom houses.
The new homes start from £87,500 for a 2-bedroom apartment (50% shared ownership) and £132,500 for a 3-bedroom house (50% shared ownership)
Shared Ownership is an alternative to renting a home or buying a property outright. It helps people who want to buy a home of their own but cannot afford to do so. Through Shared Ownership it is possible to buy a share in a property (50%) and pay rent on the remaining share. The total costs of rent and mortgage payments will be lower than the cost of buying the same home outright. In the future you have the option to buy additional shares.
The new homes are located in Wood Lane End, on the town centre side of Maylands Avenue, and will be completed in January 2008.
Rob Andrews, Marketing Manager from HPCHA, said: “This is a fantastic development of stylish homes in a great location. The new development will be completed to the highest quality and we are pleased that local people who have a real housing need will benefit from this scheme.
“The shared ownership scheme is a great way for people to get onto the property ladder without having to take out a 100% mortgage.”
