A new apprenticeship programme to support people to get in, or return to, the workplace is being launched by Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association (Hightown).
Hightown are offering two 18 month apprenticeships giving people the chance to gain skills, knowledge, City and Guilds qualifications and experience in the areas of Horticulture (gardening) and Health and Social Care. No previous qualifications or experience are needed, and successful applicants will be paid £95 a week while on the programme.
The scheme is being managed by Hightown’s Learning & Development team, in partnership with Oaklands College, St Albans and John O’Conner Ltd, one of Hightown’s grounds maintenance contractors.
The Care Apprentice will be based in Hightown’s Care & Supported Housing Department. This will enable them to gain varied knowledge, skills and experience in Hightown’s services including supporting: adults with learning disabilities; adults affected by mental health; vulnerably housed and homeless people; and young people.
The Horticulture Apprentice will work with staff at John O’ Conner’s to gain experience and training in all areas of horticulture.
