A New Dawn for Morningside

Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association’s (Hightown) are preparing to demolish Morningside, a 1970’s housing scheme in Rickmansworth.

The former sheltered housing development had been difficult to let for many years because it offered only small bedsit accommodation and shared bathrooms.

The previous residents of the scheme have now been happily settled elsewhere. Many have chosen local sheltered housing in Rickmansworth. Hightown staff provided all of the support that they needed to move, from helping them to apply for their new home, to sorting the removals.

Hightown’s aim is to provide high quality, affordable homes for people with housing needs. David Bogle, Chief executive of Hightown said: “We intend to replace the unpopular and cramped accommodation offered by the current building with more versatile, affordable new homes that meet the needs of a wider range of people in the Rickmansworth area. We will be submitting new plans before any redevelopment takes place. ”
