Works of art by people affected by mental health will be on display in Friars Square on Thursday 4 November.
The exhibition will feature original paintings by clients of Renaissance – the Aylesbury based day service that supports adults whose lives have been affected by mental health. As well as displaying the clients’ talents and show what inspires them, the exhibition aims to raise awareness of mental health issues.
Some of the artists will be on hand to talk through the ideas behind their pieces and how creating such artwork helps them to escape the problems they face.
The exhibition was the brainchild of Renaissance manager, Kim Challinor who said “When I saw the standard of artwork being produced I thought they deserved to be shown to a wider audience – they really are a talented bunch.”
Renaissance is operated by Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association, a well established provider of support to people with mental health issues both in the community and living in its own supported housing schemes. Its services are focused on enabling people to get the most out of life.
