A new service is now available to help families at risk of losing their home because of anti-social behaviour. Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association (Hightown) and Dacorum Borough Council have joined forces to provide families with support and advice to get them back on track - this new initiative is called the Family Intervention Project and it offers intensive, long term support to families with complex and challenging issues.
The project works with all members of a family to improve things that are worrying them, things that they may be finding difficult and things that are affecting their family life in a negative way. This will be different for each family member and may include financial advice, anger management, access to employment and training, parenting support and health advice. We will work each family member to agree an action plan to help them to bring about change. The project also aims to work with any other agencies involved to coordinate the support given.
Ashley Scott, who is heading up the project in Dacorum said: “The Family Intervention Project means that as a Key Worker I can help each member of the family to get the support they need – this could be anything from helping parents to get their children to school on time, organising for them to go on a parenting course or arranging mediation to resolve issues with neighbours. We will listen to the families’ needs and then address them accordingly.”
If you are aware of a family in need of support, living in Dacorum, who might benefit from such help, please contact Ashley Scott on 01442 292339 for more information.
