A service user at Renaissance (Aylesbury’s day centre for people with mental health issues) has been presented with a holiday for her and her 10 year old daughter who is also her carer. It will be their first break in four years.
Elspeth Grey has been attending Renaissance since moving to Aylesbury nearly three years ago. The day centre is operated by Hightown Praetorian & Churches Housing Association (Hightown). As well as providing support to Elspeth and respite for her daughter Rebecca, Renaissance has helped them to establish themselves in the area and get involved in many activities.
The holiday vouchers for Centre Parcs were presented to Elspeth by Andrew Chatel, Development Manager at FARR Insurance. FARR donated the vouchers for a raffle run by the National Housing Federation, which was won by Kim Ambridge who works for Hightown. She offered them up to a deserving service user.
On receiving the vouchers, Elspeth said “Rebecca and I are so excited about going away. We have managed to plan our time so we have a full week’s holiday. When I told Rebecca we were going her face just lit up with the biggest smile.”
