Successful Interviews
An interview is used as an opportunity for you to expand on the information submitted on your CV and demonstrate how you’re past experiences predicts your future performance.
You should use this time to convince the panel that you are the best candidate for the job and decide if Hightown is the right organisation for you.
Consider the 5-point Programme
1. Arrive on time
Plan your route in advance and allow time for road works, bus, train or traffic problems/delays. Aim to arrive at least 10 minutes early, as this will give you time to relax before the interview. The last thing that you want to do is arrive flustered.
If you are running late, make sure you use the contact number provided on your invite letter to advise of your expected time of arrival.
2. First impressions count
You never get a second chance to make a first impression – so make sure you look smart and business like for your interview. Shake hands with confidence, remember to smile and maintain regular eye contact.
3. Know your stuff
Make sure you research Hightown before hand. Have an understanding of what Hightown does, the service we provide and who our service users are.
Prepare in advance any questions that you have e.g.
‘How do you invest in people and career development?’
‘How has the business changed over the past year?’
‘What new services do you have in the pipeline?’
Questions like these can help you stand out from the crowd.
4. Don’t stop when the interview ends
Always leave the interview on a positive note. Thank the interviewer for his or her time.
5. Tips to remember
