We provide supported accommodation to young single people who are estranged from their families.
The young person is offered an informal interview and from that their support needs are identified. This can be a range of things from claiming benefits, learning to cook, or addressing personal issues. With the guidance from support workers we aim to provide young people with the skills required to live independently.
If successful the young person goes onto our waiting list.
Once offered accommodation they will live in one of our houses situated in Watford or Hemel Hempstead, Herts. A staff member is on site to offer support for the majority of the time.
Each young person has their own furnished room and shares bathroom and kitchen facilities with other residents.
The young people commit to communal living codes, written by them.
Once they have gained confidence, self-esteem and living skills there will be a planned move to either a shared house with no staff presence, or a bedsit/flat.
The young person continues to receive support from our team of support workers.
The goal for many young people is to improve on their skills, find employment and have their own home. We aim to help them achieve this by their 23rd birthday. Many achieve their goal before then.
Our service aims to give disadvantaged young people a fresh start. In exchange, they are expected to work hard to achieve their goals and to accept their individual support contract.
Although most of our referrals are for those aged 16 -17, we sometimes have vacancies for people aged 18 who need our support.
Our referrals come from various sources and some young people refer themselves.
Please note that, unfortunately, we do not provide emergency accommodation.
