Hightown operates two services in St Albans for homeless people who are finding it difficult to find accommodation and who have some support needs. Kent House caters for single people and couples over the age of 18, and Martin House caters for single men over the age of 25.
Both Martin House and Kent House provide a safe, caring environment for residents, along with the necessary support and advice to give them the necessary social and life skills to move on to independent living.
By creating a stable environment, residents can feel safe and confident to discuss their support needs with their key worker. All residents are expected to work at ‘moving on’ and with the support and help of their key worker identify appropriate housing solutions. Over the years, we have helped a large number people to build self-esteem and confidence, in order to find permanent employment and move on into self-contained housing.
Applicants are subject to an interview procedure, where any specific support needs will be identified and discussed. These can range from help to claim benefits, budgeting, finding employment or returning to education.
Hightown maintains short waiting lists for all our projects, to find out more information please call 01442 292355/356.
Please note that these schemes do not have any emergency or same night access to accommodation.
