How Do I...?

Single People / Kent House

Are you aware of any single person over the age of 18 who is experiencing difficulties in finding accommodation and may be in need of some support?

If so, we may be able to help. Hightown Praetorian and Churches currently runs several schemes for young single people based in the Hemel Hempstead and St Albans area. One of our main projects is at Kent House in St Albans. For further information on Kent House, including referral information, please click here.

This service provides accommodation in the form of single rooms within shared houses and flats.

Applicants are subject to an interview procedure, where any specific support needs will be identified and discussed. These can range from help to claim benefits,  budgeting, finding employment or returning to education.

Over  the years, we have helped a large number of young adults to build self-esteem and confidence, in order to find permanent employment and move on into self-contained housing.

Because these properties are shared, we cannot accept applications from anyone with an alcohol or drug dependency or a history of sexual  offences.

The association maintains short waiting lists for all our projects, to find out more information please call 01442 292355/356.

Please note that this scheme does not have any emergency or same night access to accommodation.
