You can buy your own support directly from Hightown and if you decide to take a direct payment and buy your own support - here are seven steps you will need to follow:

Find out how much money you can get

1. Your money.
The first thing to do is to find out if you can get money for support, and how much . You need to speak to your local authority about this.

Make your support plan

2. Your support plan.

Then make a plan about how you'll use the money to get the life you want. You can do the plan yourself or ask other people who you know well to help.

Get your plan agreed3. Getting your plan agreed.
A care manager at the council has to say your plan is ok before you get your money for support.

Organise your money4. Organising your money.

When the care manager agrees your plan, you can have the money paid to you or to someone who can look after it for you.

Organise your support5. Organising your support.

You can organise your support in a way that suits you, or you can get help to find and organise your support.

Live your life6. Live your life.

As well as paying for services you can also spend your money on things that will help you live the life you want.

See how it works7. Seeing how it worked.

Your care manager will need to know how your plan is working and how you are spending your money. You should meet with them once a year, or ask for a meeting anytime.
