Support workers help service user to live an independant life

My Story - Jeff

Jeff rents his home from Hightown, and he also receives support from Hightown to help him to live as independently as possible in his home. Around 18 months ago, having talked it through with his support worker and checking with Hightown that his home was suitable, Jeff decided to get a dog. He visited the Dog’s Trust to find a suitable companion, and on his third visit Jeff spotted a Jack Russell he liked and named him Jack.

Jack was quite nervous when Jeff first took him to his new home, but with lots of care and attention he has settled in and is clearly a very happy dog. Caring fror Jack has helped to keep Jeff's mind occupied, and by walking Jack four times a day he is helping to keep Jeff physically and mentally fit. Jeff makes sure Jack is taken care of by getting him his vaccinations and playing ball as he loves to play fetch with it.

Jack is sometimes allowed a treat of some meat or chicken when some is left over from Jeff’s dinner. Jeff loves having Jack - being able to take him for walks, being able to get out and about more and wouldn’t be without him.

Jack has helped Jeff to stay fit and well.
