After many years living in residential care, Mr G moved into Cotton House, Winslow. At that time he needed help to perform every day tasks such as shaving, choosing what to wear and making a hot drink.
Over the last two years, with the help of Hightown’s support staff, he has made tremendous progress towards living more independently. He is now able to make his own sandwiches and hot drinks, take a shower and go shopping without the support of staff. He only requires 20 hours of support each week.
He is also enjoying a more fulfilled life, in particular he has established a vegetable patch and flower bed in his garden. Having removed a large hedge, he has cultivated beans, tomatoes, strawberries, potatoes, onions and much more. He has also been able to help other Hightown service users to develop their gardens, often enjoying lunch with them while he is there!
