Housing support service

The Housing Support Service aims to prevent people from becoming homeless and work with people who require support to live independently in their own home. The service is available to people over 18 years old and living in the St Albans District. The support is available for up to two years depending upon individual circumstances.

We recognise there are a wide range of issues that may affect on a person's ability to manage their home and keep their tenancy. Often individuals require support in areas not directly related to housing. If the difficulties a person is faced with means that they are unable to keep to their tenancy agreement, or look after their home, then the Housing Support team can offer specialist support.

The support available is designed to be flexible and comprehensive so that the root of the issue is targeted to stop the same issues reoccurring, or escalating.

If you need support in the following areas, please contact the Housing Support Team for further advice.

  • Support to Prevent Homelessness - Working with individuals who are at risk of losing their tenancy so that they remain in their own home.
  • Housing Support - Support to identify and access suitable accommodation. Working with people to help them to manage their accommodation and tenancy in the future.
  • Resettlement Support - Working with individuals who are at risk of homelessness or unsuitably housed and need support to access accommodation that meets their needs.
