Open Door provides a place to stay for homeless people

Night shelter

Open Door is open 365 days a year. The night shelter opens at 6.00pm each evening and closes at 8.15 the following morning. Service users will have access to their single room with en suite wash facilities from 6.00pm onwards. Last entry time for service users is 8.00pm, in time for a cooked meal and hot drinks provided in a welcoming atmosphere.

Accessing the service

People who are homeless and over the age of 18 are able to access Open Door in the following ways:

  • self-referral - by presenting to the Drop in Service (1.00pm - 2.30pm) or night shelter (6.00pm - 8.00pm)
  • agency referral from 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday
  • police referral up to 12 midnight
  • our street outreach service works with rough sleepers to bring them in off the street (let is know if you have seen someone sleeping rough by completing this form)

In addition to a warm welcome and a hot meal services will include support planning, access to counselling, access to a specialist nurse for the homeless and a clothes store (depending on the availability of stock).
